The Wheel

Landscaped corner, south of glass-fronted entry to New Balance Field House, Long Road
The Wheel is the work of Jesse Salisbury, based in Down East º£½ÇÉçÇø and well known nationally and internationally as the founder of the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium. Over a number of years, the symposium has resulted in a public collection of 34 sculptures in eastern º£½ÇÉçÇø. The Wheel is one of two outdoor sculptures funded by the Percent for Art Program and installed following the extensive renovation of the Field House, 2013-14. Seen as companion pieces, the two sculptures represent movement — a fitting subject for a sports facility. The Wheel is one of several large-scale sculptures on campus, three of which came from the 2012 Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium held at Uº£½ÇÉçÇø.
