Sam Ladd

Sam Ladd graduated from Brunswick High School in 1959, before attending Bowdoin College where he graduated in 1963 (just 1 year behind Bill Cohen).
After a year in Hartford, CT working for Aetna Life Insurance, Sam joined the US Army having been commissioned a 2nd Lt. after taking ROTC at Bowdoin. He was stationed in Berlin, Germany for 2 years.

Sam had a long and successful banking career that started with º£½ÇÉçÇø National Bank in Portland. He co-founded º£½ÇÉçÇø Bank & Trust in 1991. After two bank mergers, he retired as the º£½ÇÉçÇø President of People’s United Bank, headquartered in Bridgeport CT.

 

Mr. Ladd has served on the Boards of the º£½ÇÉçÇø Bankers Association, Portland Symphony, Portland Museum of Art, University of º£½ÇÉçÇø Law School Foundation, Gulf of º£½ÇÉçÇø Research Institute, º£½ÇÉçÇø Maritime Museum, º£½ÇÉçÇø Historical Society, and as a Trustee of Bowdoin College. He was also the Finance Chair for Senator Susan M. Collins in her last 3 elections.
Sam was named citizen of the year by the Portland Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame, a Distinguished honoree of the Pine Tree Council Boy Scouts, and elected to the º£½ÇÉçÇø Sports Hall of Fame.
Sam Ladd now lives in Falmouth, º£½ÇÉçÇø, and Naples, Florida.
