The Cooperative Forestry Research Unit connects º£½ÇÉçÇø’s forestry community with the University of º£½ÇÉçÇø. CFRU scientists conduct applied research that provides º£½ÇÉçÇø’s forest landowners, forestry community, and policymakers with the information needed to ensure both sustainable forestry practices and science-based forest policy.
For the past 50 years, the CFRU has shaped the evolution of forest practices in the state and advanced the principles of sustainable forest management. During periods of political controversy, the CFRU has provided crucial scientific information to º£½ÇÉçÇø policymakers and helped the general public understand the implications of a wide range of forest resource issues.
