WPES members present research at international Physics of Estuaries and Coastal Seas conference
WPES faculty, staff, and graduate students convened with other coastal scientists to share research at the in Bordeaux, France in September. The conference, co-organized by WPES co-leader Dr. Lauren Ross, brought together an international group of researchers to discuss topics including wave, tide, and salt wedge dynamics, sediment transport, river-coast interactions, and how physical processes in estuaries and coastal waters are being affected by anthropogenic pressures and climate change. Conference abstracts included contributions from multiple graduate students from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and a postdoctoral researcher and undergraduate student from the School of Earth and Climate Sciences. The next PECS conference is planned to happen in Portland, º£½ÇÉçÇø in 2026!
Conference attendees from Uº£½ÇÉçÇø were Dr. Lauren Ross, Dr. Sean Smith, Dr. Kimberly Huguenard, Dr. Edwin Nagy, Dr. Bea Van Dam, and graduate students Taylor Bailey, Cristian Rojas, Elias Pinilla, Nalika Lakmali, and Nicolas Cyr.
