We encourage you to take the following steps prior to beginning any research activities to ensure compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/\">ORC website<\/a><\/strong> and review guidance for areas that may apply to your work. We offer in depth policies, guidance, and resources to guide you through each area of research compliance.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review the <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/resource\/introduction-umaine-research-compliance\/\">Introduction to U海角社区 Research Compliance Info Sheet (PDF)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Determine if any trainings or approvals are required<\/strong> before initiating your research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Complete required trainings<\/strong>, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/financial-conflict-of-interest\/coi-training\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/financial-conflict-of-interest\/coi-training\/\">Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) training<\/a> (required for all researchers) and any others required for your work using Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI); see <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/resource\/instructions-for-citi-training\/\">Instructions to Access CITI Training (PDF)<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/contact-us\/\">Contact ORC<\/a><\/strong> with any questions or to schedule a consultation. We are here to help.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Leaving U海角社区?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When a researcher leaves U海角社区 or retires, there are important compliance steps that must be taken prior to departure. As a researcher leaving U海角社区, you should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/contact-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/contact-us\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1637425931950000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2iugrympdOgX_FXxOMmQ0k\">Contact ORC<\/a>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<strong>close<\/strong>&nbsp;protocols, applications, registrations, labs, etc.&nbsp;<em>or<\/em>&nbsp;<strong>transfer<\/strong>&nbsp;protocols, etc. to another researcher&nbsp;at U海角社区. Please note: protocol transfer requests must be submitted&nbsp;<em>at least<\/em> 14 business days prior to your&nbsp;planned departure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you plan to continue your research, <strong>contact the new institution<\/strong> in advance to see what steps might be needed to open the study there.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The sooner a researcher notifies ORC of their plans to leave U海角社区, the easier the transition will be for the researcher, as well as all institutions involved.
