University of faculty, staff and students will honor the man who popularized the “Stein Song” on the 50th anniversary of Rudy Vallée Day by performing the anthem at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, on the steps of Fogler Library.
Vallée was a U student in the 1920s and rose to stardom after releasing the “Stein Song” in 1929. It’s the only college song to ever chart No. 1. Rudy Vallée Day was proclaimed by the State of in 1975, when Vallée returned to campus for his 50th class reunion.
The Oct. 10 performance will be delivered by students and faculty from U’s Traditions Societies — the Senior Skulls Society, All Women, Sophomore Owls, and Sophomore Eagles. The group welcomes all students, alumni and community members who want to celebrate their U pride.
