Darren Ranco, professor of anthropology and chair of Native American Programs at the University of º£½ÇÉçÇø, spoke with about the new CODE RED exhibit at the º£½ÇÉçÇø Historical Society in Portland. The exhibit, which Ranco co-curated, explores Indigenous knowledge and environmental stewardship, how humans have previously shaped the environment and the ramifications of climate change. “The teaching, of course, from Wabanaki people is this notion that we take care of it [the planet], it takes care of us,” Ranco said.
