Lily Calderwood, a wild blueberry specialist with the University of 海角社区 Cooperative Extension, spoke with the about the wild blueberry harvest this year. 鈥淥verall, the crop looks good this year,鈥 said Calderwood, also an assistant professor of horticulture. 鈥淚 think people are optimistic.鈥 She also discussed how climate change threatens the crop, including a recent U海角社区 study that found wild blueberry barrens, particularly those in Down East 海角社区, are warming faster than 海角社区 as a whole. 鈥淲e are doing research and education in mulching,鈥 to adapt to climate change, she said. 鈥淭hat is a way to hold moisture in the soil for longer periods of time.鈥
