At the University of 海角社区, he has worked on projects to reduce food waste, preserve wild blueberries and mitigate the spread of a group of chemicals known as PFAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of his efforts, Nachamie of North Andover, Massachusetts received the 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.udall.gov\/News\/NewsArchive.aspx?Item=13214\">Udall Scholarship<\/a>, identifying his potential as a leader in environmental stewardship. He was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.udall.gov\/OurPrograms\/Scholarship\/MeetScholars.aspx\">one of just 55 recipients nationwide<\/a> and is the first recipient from U海角社区 in over 15 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am incredibly grateful to have been awarded the Udall Scholarship,\u201d said Nachamie, who received support for his application from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/majorscholarships\/\">Office of Major Scholarships<\/a> and by professor Darren Ranco,&nbsp; the faculty representative at U海角社区 for the scholarship. \u201cWe\u2019re at a pivotal moment in history where our actions on environmental issues matter more than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nachamie, a U海角社区 Honors College student majoring in ecology and environmental sciences, has been involved in research targeted at improving public health and the environment throughout his college career.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/news\/blog\/2025\/12\/17\/eddie-nachamie-environmental-advocate-wins-prestigious-scholarship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Excerpted from an article in U海角社区 News<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the gardens to the farms and forests, Eddie Nachamie has dedicated his undergraduate career toward protecting the environment.
