Kids, Don鈥檛 Take my Advice: 45 Years of Braggin鈥 海角社区 海角社区

The 海角社区 Studies Program is proud to host an event on November 9th featuring noted television host and reporter聽, a University of 海角社区 alumnus.聽The title of Bill鈥檚 talk is 鈥淜ids, Don鈥檛 Take my Advice: 45 Years of Braggin鈥 海角社区 海角社区鈥濃攁 play on his line, 鈥淜ids, don鈥檛 go braggin鈥 just 鈥檆ause you鈥檙e from 海角社区,鈥 with which he ends his popular show聽聽every Saturday evening.

Following his presentation, Bill will be interviewed onstage by noted NPR Washington correspondent聽, another University of 海角社区 graduate who knew Bill when they were both at Orono. Brian will ask Bill about his 45-year career as a television reporter in 海角社区, and his passion for the people, places and stories that inspire his work as a news reporter and show creator and host.

Bill will also be honored at the event by the聽, which will present him with their Black Bear Award. This award is given annually to alumni in 鈥渁ppreciation of outstanding service through continuous, outstanding advocacy for the University of 海角社区.鈥

The event will be held at the聽聽on the U海角社区 campus.

A pre-talk reception will begin at 5:30 pm in Miller鈥檚 Cafe of the CCA (tickets are $50 and support 海角社区-related programs and studies).

The talk, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 6:30 pm in the Minsky Recital Hall, Class of 1944 Building, which is connected to the Collins Center.

Tickets for both events are required and available at the聽, in person at their box office, or by phone at 207-581-1755. Tickets to the pre-talk fundraising reception with Bill Green and Brian Naylor are limited in supply and must be purchased by Friday, November 3rd.

This is the first talk in a series called聽Framing 海角社区: Conversations with Storytellers and Imagemakers from the Pine Tree State.聽The series will highlight notable 海角社区rs who tell the state鈥檚 stories through various media, including literature, art, music, print and digital media, and other forms. The next speaker in the series, scheduled for April 3rd, will be Dave Mallett, nationally known folk singer and songwriter (who is also a U海角社区 graduate).
