Uº£½ÇÉçÇø, USM partnership update

Three USM faculty members received  in 2024 to conduct research through partnerships with Uº£½ÇÉçÇø researchers. The initiative proved to be very successful, with all three faculty reporting new publications, collaborations and connections.  

Amir Kordijazi says, “I’m happy to share that the first paper from my IoM fellowship, in collaboration with Caitlin Howell’s group, has been published, followed by a second collaborative paper.”

Catherine Miller reports that the partnership allowed her to connect directly with and gain the expertise of members of the Tick Lab, (Dr. Thomas Rounsville and Griffin Dill), access state-of-the-art labs and lab equipment, and receive career mentoring from Allie Gardner in Uº£½ÇÉçÇø’s Department of Biology and Ecology. The next step will be pursuing an NIH R15 award within the next year or two, possibly with Dr. Rounsville serving as co-PI.

Ashish Lanba collaborated with the Advanced Structural Composites Center (ASCC) who used the laser ablation tomography (LATscan) technology from his laboratory.  Another project with the  º£½ÇÉçÇø-FOREST Cellulosic Nanofiber (CNF) Team resulted in an award on June 26, 2024, . Ashish Lanba was also grateful for ORD’s help and guidance for his submission of an NSF CAREER grant proposal.
