Our Areas of Specialization

Work in the Agriculture and Food Systems, Forests and Forest Products, and Marine and Coastal Communities areas (more details coming soon) is anchored by a specialist, typically also working closely with one or more units at the University of º£½ÇÉçÇø leveraging that area of work (e.g. University of º£½ÇÉçÇø Cooperative Extension Office, Center for Research on Sustainable Forests, and º£½ÇÉçÇø Sea Grant respectively).

º£½ÇÉçÇø Won’t Wait also called for the coordination of data and monitoring in support of technical assistance to stakeholders including the º£½ÇÉçÇø Climate Council, the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future, the MCC Scientific and Technical Subcommittee, the MCC Equity Subcommittee, the MCC Working groups, the University of º£½ÇÉçÇø System, º£½ÇÉçÇø’s scientific community at large, º£½ÇÉçÇø’s municipalities, business, NGOs and policymakers. To meet this directive MCSIE works with the  and the º£½ÇÉçÇø State Climatologist, Dr. Sean Birkel, to enhance access to climate relevant data and to build increased capacity for the º£½ÇÉçÇø Climate Office to serve as a gateway to relevant data and monitoring information for º£½ÇÉçÇø.

MCSIE draws on the expertise at the University of º£½ÇÉçÇø in the Office of Strategic Partnerships, Innovation, Resources and Engagement and the Office of Research Development in developing coalitions of researchers in seeking to build research with partners from both within and external to the University of º£½ÇÉçÇø that promote the information needs of º£½ÇÉçÇø’s climate action plan implementation.

Finally, MCSIE benefits from the input of an Advisory Committee including staff from the University of º£½ÇÉçÇø Vice President’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development and the University of º£½ÇÉçÇø Office of Research and Development.
