Proposal Description:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

High-level computer skills offer a vital competitive advantage for humanities and social science students
wishing to solve problems and develop marketable skills for careers in the private sector, government, or
the NGO world. Similarly, the analytic, synthetic, and contextualizing skills that the study of history develops\u2014not to mention the experience with complex real-world data that archival research provides\u2014are of enormous value to students who hope to apply computational skills in an ever more challenging job market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This major will address both interests by connecting the technical skills and problem-solving methods of
a computing degree with an engagement with the diversity of human experience and the complexity of
the data that represents that is the hallmark of the discipline of history. . This combination of strong computational skills with complex humanistically-oriented analysis and narrativization, and an experience in using the fusion of the two to increase discovery and impact will be attractive to prospective students and employers alike.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
