Dr. Daehyun Kim is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the º£½ÇÉçÇø Business School. His research examines corporate governance with a particular focus on board dynamics and shareholder control mechanisms. His work has appeared in leading academic journals, including The American Economic Review, and has received wide and prominent recognition from both the scholarly community and prestigious international media such as The Wall Street Journal, PBS, Bloomberg, and Forbes.
Before entering academia, Dr. Kim gained extensive industry experience in managerial accounting and finance. He served as a Financial Analyst at American Airlines, where he was responsible for preparing operating and capital budgets for the airline’s airport operations. He also worked as a Debt Capital Markets Analyst at Barclays Capital, assisting corporate clients with bond issuances, and as a Credit Risk Management Research Analyst at Lehman Brothers. As an undergraduate, he completed internships with Banc of America Securities, specializing in syndicated loan origination in the gaming and real estate sectors, and with a boutique investment bank focusing on community bank mergers and acquisitions.
Dr. Kim holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining º£½ÇÉçÇø Business School, he was on the faculty of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, where he taught for nine years.
