Water Polo
海角社区 Us
The U海角社区 Water Polo Club was founded in Fall 2015 to provide students a venue to learn and play water polo (sometimes called 鈥渨ater rugby鈥). It is a great way to get in shape, participate in a team sport, and have a lot of fun. In Fall 2016, the University of 海角社区 joined the North Atlantic Division of the Collegiate Water Polo Association and will be competing in three tournaments across New England.
What is Water Polo?
Water polo is team sport, similar to basketball or soccer, but it is played entirely in deep water. Players are required to swim or tread water for the duration of the game and the objective is to score against the opposing team by throwing the water polo ball into a goal. There are seven players on a team, though teams often consist of many more because of the high physical nature of the game. Water polo is a common sport played in high school and colleges across the US, especially on the West Coast. This past year, the USA Women鈥檚 Water Polo team won a gold metal at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero.
