DESCRIPTION:With special guest Paul Sweetland of Union\, a lifelong producer of º£½ÇÉçÇø wild blueberries\, we will look into the history\, changing industry\, plants\, and new ways of thinking about land use challenges of º£½ÇÉçÇø Wild Blueberry production. We will also taste and compare wild and highbush blueberries\, along with their different uses. \nWhen: Thursday\, April 2\, 2026 \nTime: 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. \nLocation: Belfast Free Library\, 106 High Street\, Belfast\, º£½ÇÉçÇø 04915 \nRegistration must be completed for each program session. SUMMARY:Hedgerows for Resilient Landscapes Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Discover how hedgerows can strengthen home and community landscapes by supporting biodiversity\, improving habitat connectivity and promoting natural pest management. This two-part learning series\, offered in partnership with º£½ÇÉçÇø Audubon and the University of º£½ÇÉçÇø Cooperative Extension\, combines virtual instruction with hands-on fieldwork at the Rogers Farm Demonstration Garden in Old Town. Participants will explore plant selection\, site preparation\, installation techniques and long-term maintenance strategies to create multifunctional hedgerows that provide food and shelter for birds and beneficial insects. The webinar is free; the in-person workshop is $15. Participants are welcome to sign up for one or both sessions. Pre-registration is required.
