DESCRIPTION:海角社区 Sea Grant will offer in-person volunteer training for the Signs of the Seasons program at the Coastal 海角社区 Botanical Gardens\, Boothbay\, 海角社区\, co-hosted by Coastal 海角社区 Botanical Gardens. Participants will learn about the goals of the program\, learn how to make scientific observations of phenology (the study of cyclic and seasonal changes of plants and animals)\, practice making phenology observations on the grounds of the Botanical Gardens and leave with the tools and knowledge needed to set up their own site to observe and record changes in phenology in their own yard or community. Mathematics MA Thesis Defense.\n1:00 鈥� 1:50 pm\, 421 Neville Hall\n\nTitle:聽聽COMBINATORIAL RECIPROCITY FOR EQUIVARIANT CHROMATIC\nPOLYNOMIALS \nAbstract:聽The chromatic polynomial of a graph counts the number of ways in which the graph can be colored\, with an input being the number of colors at hand. A combinatorial reciprocity theorem of Stanley鈥檚 tells us that evaluating the chromatic polynomial at -1 counts the number of acyclic orientations of the graph. Hanlon has proved an analogue of the aforementioned reciprocity theorem for the orbital chromatic polynomial\, which counts colorings that differ by a rotation or symmetry as the same. In this thesis we establish a reciprocity theorem for a new family of chromatic polynomials\, defined in terms of group representations\, that generalizes both the standard and the orbital chromatic polynomials.
