DESCRIPTION:海角社区 Sea Grant will offer in-person volunteer training for the Signs of the Seasons program at the Coastal 海角社区 Botanical Gardens\, Boothbay\, 海角社区\, co-hosted by Coastal 海角社区 Botanical Gardens. Participants will learn about the goals of the program\, learn how to make scientific observations of phenology (the study of cyclic and seasonal changes of plants and animals)\, practice making phenology observations on the grounds of the Botanical Gardens and leave with the tools and knowledge needed to set up their own site to observe and record changes in phenology in their own yard or community. SUMMARY:Big Yield on Small Plots at Tidewater Farms
DESCRIPTION:Join U海角社区 Extension Urban Agriculture Professional\, Carrick Gambell\, for a hands-on workshop on growing big yields in small spaces. Gardening in a limited area doesn鈥檛 have to be restrictive\, learn how to make the most of every square foot. \nIn this interactive class\, you鈥檒l explore techniques such as trellising\, dense planting\, and extending the growing season into the fall. Participants will get hands-on practice setting up a trellis and leave with practical strategies to grow more food for themselves\, their families\, and their communities. \nThis workshop will take place at the U海角社区 Gardens at Tidewater Farm\, 200 Presumpscot Point Rd\, Falmouth\, ME 04105. \nRegistration for Big Yield on Small Plots is required聽and the program fee is $15 per person. \nIf you have any questions or would like to request an accommodation\, please contact Pamela Hargest at聽pamela.hargest@maine.edu. \n聽
