DESCRIPTION:Program Description:\nEvery minute that managers spend doing something that someone else can do is one less minute managers have to do something only they can do. If there are tasks that you currently do that others can accomplish or that others could help you accomplish\, this workshop helps uncover those tasks and plan for how to delegate them to others. Delegation can help you accomplish your goals\, while advancing the abilities\, confidence\, and initiative of your employees. Delegation can help managers develop greater employee engagement. \nThis workshop is designed to help managers\, supervisors\, and emerging supervisors assess their current delegation practices and uncover additional strategies for more effectively empowering their team members. A diverse range of artwork will be on view including digital photography\, installation\, painting\, mixed media\, and more. Faculty exhibitions are presented on alternating years and each exhibition showcases approximately half of the studio art faculty. \nLord Hall Gallery is located on the first floor of Lord Hall and is open Monday-Friday from 9:00am-4:00pm. DESCRIPTION:Program Description\nOnline SAT Prep Matters and SAT Boot Camp are new courses designed by Dr Mary Smyth\, a long-time SAT coach in the Midcoast. College-bound high school juniors who plan to take the SAT test will benefit from learning about the new format and updated content of the new SAT. \n鈥淚 am actually a fan of the new SAT\,鈥� says Dr. Smyth. She explained the test is shorter (2 hours 15 minutes total) and questions are individualized to each student. The digital approach allows the test to 鈥渞eact鈥� to the student鈥檚 prior answers and change the difficulty level. The reading passages are shorter and there is a combined section with both reading and grammar questions included. The test also has a visible built-in timer and a calculator and graphing program available for all the math questions. \nThe new test will require a whole new approach to studying and practicing. While there are free resources available on Khan Academy\, most students will need guidance in understanding how to approach the test. For instance\, students can attempt a math problem by using any of several techniques: graph the problem\, write out the algebra steps\, or try the answers to see which one fits. Knowing how to navigate between those options will give students more strategies and can increase their scores. \n鈥淲ith this new SAT format\, I am amazed how much teaching I can do to help students solidify knowledge they have been exposed to in high school\, 鈥� says Smyth. 鈥淪tudents have to be able to use what they have learned to solve problems. This course will focus instead on emotional well-being during your retirement transition and next chapter. \nWe will provide skills and resources for social-emotional development to soon-to-retire professionals\, or those newly retired. Enhance resilience and transition-coping skills. SUMMARY:Leadership: Empowering Delegation
DESCRIPTION:Program Description:\nEvery minute that managers spend doing something that someone else can do is one less minute managers have to do something only they can do. If there are tasks that you currently do that others can accomplish or that others could help you accomplish\, this workshop helps uncover those tasks and plan for how to delegate them to others. Delegation can help you accomplish your goals\, while advancing the abilities\, confidence\, and initiative of your employees. Delegation can help managers develop greater employee engagement. \nThis workshop is designed to help managers\, supervisors\, and emerging supervisors assess their current delegation practices and uncover additional strategies for more effectively empowering their team members. As a national and international trainer and business consultant since 1993\, Bob designs and delivers practical professional development opportunities in the areas of leadership\, management\, and team development for in-person\, remote\, and hybrid working arrangements; change management; influence\, motivation\, and workforce engagement; virtual and in-person meeting management and facilitation; creative problem solving and innovation; mentoring and critical thinking; cultural and emotional intelligence; and interpersonal conflict and collaboration. Bob鈥檚 clients include pharmaceutical and health care organizations; manufacturing plants; school-age and higher educational institutions; commercial airlines and other service-based corporations; nonprofit organizations; and local\, state\, and federal government agencies. Bob has partnered with 23 centers for continuing and executive education through Virginia鈥檚 Community College System and at major universities\, such as Duke University\, North Carolina\, Virginia\, Pittsburgh\, and multiple campuses in the University of 海角社区 System.
