SUMMARY:Exhibition: "The Teaching Portfolio: 45 years of Printmaking at the University of 海角社区"
DESCRIPTION:The Department of聽Art鈥檚 Lord Hall Gallery will host the exhibition The Teaching Portfolio: 45 Years of Printmaking at the University of 海角社区 from August 27-October 24\, 2025. A public reception will take place on September 26th from 5-7pm. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to attend. \nThe Teaching Portfolio is a collection of fine聽art working proofs and finished prints created in the U海角社区 printmaking studio by students\, alumni\, faculty\, and visiting artists. Covering a time span of 45 years\, under the direction of printmaking Professor Susan Groce\, this portfolio represents an impressive overview of the direction and growth of print media and the University of 海角社区 printmaking studio program 鈥� from traditional materials and processes to the safer and greener processes and the incorporation of new technologies. The portfolio includes Collagraphs\, Etchings and Acrylic Resist Etchings\, Photopolymer Intaglio-Type Etchings\, Lithography\, Relief Printing\, Water-Based Screen Printing\, and Monoprints\, as well as prints made through the Printmaking Artist Residency Program and Student Portfolio Exchanges. SUMMARY:Morphology\, Vocabulary\, and the Sciences of Reading with Journey Swafford
DESCRIPTION:In this full-day interactive workshop\, hosted by the University of 海角社区 Training Center for Comprehensive Literacy\, participants will explore how teaching word parts 鈥� prefixes\, roots\, and suffixes 鈥� can directly improve students鈥� vocabulary knowledge\, decoding skills\, and reading comprehension. The workshop will examine how morphological awareness supports both early literacy development in the primary grades and content-area literacy in upper elementary through high school. Using hands-on activities\, classroom demonstrations\, and research-based practices\, participants will engage in collaborative planning\, analyze student work samples\, and walk away with ready-to-use resources including word-building activities\, and lesson planning templates. Journey Swafford\, Ph.D.\, is a Reading Recovery Trainer\, a Comprehensive Intervention Model and Successful Start Facilitator\, and serves as the Executive Director of Paths to Literacy at Georgia State University.
